Observe & Report

I must confess I haven’t been writing as frequently as I would like. I have a good reason though, the ‘murrycle’ of Andy Murray has kept me glued to my television and sofa for the last week or so. My heart on more than one occasion has been in my mouth especially during the numerous match points of the final and I simply could not concentrate on my writing exercise on observing people during this exciting tournament. My daughter, however, spent a lot of time observing me this weekend most notably during yesterday’s Wimbledon final concluding that she is glad I wasn’t at centre court for I would’ve been escorted out with all the shouting, jumping and clapping that I was doing along with the occasional expletive! What can I say, I’m a passionate being and at times very animated…

My New Notebook!

Now I’m back at my desk, my OCA folder is open and I’m continuing with exercise 2, observing people. Flicking through a magazine I found a picture of a young adolescent and, following the exercises, a short story is slowly emerging.

On another note, I have started a new notebook! I’m rather fond of Moleskine notebooks and was excited to find a purple one. I love the colour purple; it’s my favorite coloured ink!  Thanks to my morning pages, observations and note taking I’m amazed at how quickly the pages are filled with my purple ink pen. My preference is the Pilot Precise V5 extra fine style, a pen that transforms my usual untidy handwriting into somewhat eligible script.

With that in mind I have procrastinated long enough. Time to put pen to paper and pray for a murrycle…
